We here at Packages From Home would like to thank the many volunteers, Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout troops, donors and all the many organizations who have given their time and money to help with our cause.

This year has been especially challenging since we depend so heavily on financial donations and in these tough economic times it is important to remember who we are doing this for. We're not doing this for us to "feel" good, nor are we doing this to make you "feel" good, we ARE however doing this to help our brave men and women overseas in harms way to feel cared for.

I was a United States Marine for nine years and was sent overseas many times and even spent some time in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield. I can remember how it felt to get a package from home, to get some things that I couldn't get while deployed and to just know somebody was thinking about me.

I can also remember days, just sitting there feeling lonely hoping to hear from home or get a package and then "mail call" would come. "Mail call" came every day, and most days most guys wouldn't get anything, myself included and you could see the disappointment in our eyes when our names weren't called by the platoon Sergeant. And, you could see the joy in the eyes of those who did get something in "mail call".

Now over 17 years later I'm fortunate enough to be in a position that allows me the opportunity to change those feeling for the guys and gals who have so honorably answered the call to duty.

We here at Packages From Home are asking you to remember who we're doing this for and know that we really are making a difference in the lives of so many. Thank you.

Thank you, Packages From Home, for brightening the lives of some weary Civil Engineers in Afghanistan. We received TWO of your packages today- our first mail call. There were tons of M+M's and popcorn in the first one, with a nice drawing from Blake, a card from Chloe, and some crayon drawings on the box from Elea. Very sweet. And the M+M's were pretty sweet, too.

The second box held a bounty of health and beauty supplies, which we were in need of. Some of these guys more than others, I'm afraid.

You can't imagine how much brighter our spirits are by receiving some everyday items in the mail. Maybe it won't be so bad to be away from home for so long.

Please extend our warm thanks to all of your volunteers and donors for thinking of those of us who are so far away. We really do appreciate it. And keep those kids drawings coming. They look better than the alternative.

Hello,

I am writing to you from  Iraq and wanted to thank your organization for sending me the two packages I have received from you. They were filled to the brim with good treats and other useful items. Packages from your organization and from family members are especially crucial out here since many of the niceties like the PX and other vendors have already left our base. My soldiers and I greatly appreciate the packages and the support from you guys at home. I will send pictures sometime in the near future.

To whom it may concern,
I recently have deployed to Afghanistan. I'm not even sure how you all got my name added to your list, but I'm thankful that it did. I have received two packages and they were full of great things! I am a Master Sergeant (E-7) in the Air Force and am in charge of a few dozen people. It's awesome to receive the support. The items get grabbed up so fast! I set them out and everyone scoops up what they need or want. Thank you all for what you do and please continue to support all those who serve. It matters more than you could imagine. It means more than you know. Thank you for taking an active role in this mission. It's Americans like you who we are proud to do this for!
Thanks on behalf of all who you've helped here,
MSgt Dennis J.

Everyone,
Thank you so much for the magnificent care packages that you all sent me recently. I am a sailor  and every package received helps make the deployment feel more comfortable. I appreciated all the gifts that you all sent me, it was very thoughtful and gave me a positive rise in my morale. It is always nice to feel appreciated and all the items help bring the reality of the support we have back home in the states. Your care packages also bring a sense of home back to the ship that we lose when away for so extended periods of time. Thank you so much for everything that you all are doing and I want you to know that your thoughtfulness and generosity is appreciated.
Thank you again,
PO2 Seth V.
