March Newsletter

Happy Spring

Packages From Home Newsletter – March 9, 2016

Gorgeous weather, spring break and spring training games give us a great excuse to celebrate the season. But these aren’t the only reasons we should be thankful this time of year. Even though we can’t necessarily see their hard work with our own eyes, more than 150,000 troops are overseas in 150+ countries doing everything they can to keep us safe so we can enjoy spring and every other season.

Supporting our heroes is easier than you might think. If you plan on doing a little spring cleaning, consider donating your gently-used and unwanted household items to Packages From Home, such as sporting equipment, board games, magazines, books, DVDs and electronics. We send these items to Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) centers overseas so our troops can have a taste of home, even when they’re thousands of miles away. For a complete list of the items most frequently requested by our troops, check out our Wish List or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. PFH Move squarePFH is on the Move
You may have heard that after 10 years at our current location in Phoenix, Arizona, Packages From Home has outgrown our current facilities and needs more space. We are pleased to announce that we will be moving to a brand new location in north Phoenix at the end of spring.

We will graciously accept helping hands of any size to assist us with settling into our new facility. If you’d like to volunteer to help us with our future move, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Nancy Schulte, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Sarah Welcome, Sarah
We are excited to announce that Sarah Perry has joined the Packages From Home team as our Director of Fundraising & Communications. Throughout her career, Sarah has served as the senior marketing manager for a global, B2B member-based association, the head of the marketing department for a 10-clinic healthcare organization, the founder and Editor-in-Chief of an Arizona-based healthy lifestyle magazine and as an independent marketing consultant for several small businesses. And if her name sounds familiar, that’s because she previously worked for Packages From Home in 2009 and 2010 as our Communications & Business Development Coordinator. Please help us welcome Sarah to the team by congratulating her on our Facebook page or by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. H2H BikeFantastic February
February was all about showing our troops love at Packages From Home. We had a great time at our 11th annual Hearts to Heroes Motorcycle Ride on February 27th. Thanks to you, we raised enough monetary and in-kind donations to send more than 500 care packages to our deployed troops. Check out our Instagram and Facebook pages to see photos from the event.

We also want to extend a big thank you to Fry’s Food Stores and CBS 5 for helping raise nearly $185,000 as part of the Courageous Hearts fundraiser that took place during the whole month of February. One hundred percent of the proceeds earned through Courageous Hearts directly supported several military organizations, including Packages From Home, that are devoted to serving United States military personnel, retirees, veterans and their families. Thanks to CBS 5, Fry’s and all those who donated!
