Fry's Food Stores and Arizona Communities Gave Back to Our Troops Big Time

Packages From Home wants to give a huge thank you to all 119 Fry's Food Stores and the community of Arizona for supporting our troops this past February during the Courageous Hearts campaign. Packages From Home was selected to be one of four organizations to benefit from Fry's Food Store's campaign to help give back to the individuals who have sacrificed so much for this country – our United States military personnel, retirees, veterans, and their families.

During the month of February, all 119 Fry's Food stores gave their customers the opportunity to purchase their very own Courageous Heart and donate their spare change at the cash registers. Fry's Food Stores and their amazing customers were able to raise approximately $280,000 total to be split between four nonprofit organizations.

Packages From Home is 10 Years Old!

Packages From Home has now been supporting our deployed heroes for 10 years. Without the support of our donors and volunteers we would not have been able to do so! Thank you to the many supporters we have in Arizona and across the United States for choosing to support our troops through Packages From Home. We receive many Thank You's from our Troops, below is just one example of the thanks you have received over the years!

“Packages From Home,

My name is 1LT Kyle P. and I am currently serving in Afghanistan. I wanted to extend a sincere thank you to your organization for the abundance of care packages that you have sent us. The contents of your packages has brought joy and hope to over 400 soldiers. Our soldiers miss their homes and families every day and knowing that there are Americans who appreciate their sacrifices validates why we fight. Words cannot express how thankful we are for all that you are doing for us. We look forward to your continued support.

Arizona StandDown February 14th & 15th 2014

Did you know that “Stand Down” is a common military term? The Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness (AZCEH) said it best, “a Stand Down is a brief period of time for a soldier to leave an active combat area, to rest and regain strength before returning to battle.” The Arizona Stand Down has become an annual event that does exactly that for our local homeless veterans. The event has been running for more than a decade, and one can easily see the need growing. In 2009, the turnout for help was under 750 Veterans. This year on February 14th and 15th, they are expecting to touch the lives of at least 1,400 homeless Veterans. The StandDown will be held at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Maricopa County.
