What happens when the immovable force meets the unstoppable object?!?!
On February 27th, 2010, 9-Time UFC Welterweight Champion Matthew Hughes’ - Team H.I.T. Squad will
collide with some of Northern Illinois’ most aggressive fighters in what will be one of the most widely
publicized MMA Events in the Rockford area. SUDDEN IMPAKT 1: Team Hughes vs. Team Rockford @ Victory
Sports Complex. Doors Open @ 7pm Fights start @ 8pm.
Mixed Martial Arts has been rapidly changing and now for the first time ever two teams will compete in
Rockford for one cause! This event will be in conjunction with Packagesfromhome.org a nonprofit
organization based out of Phoenix, AZ that is dedicated to delivering comfort and care packages to our troops
overseas. The organization with the help of local promotion company MMA Impakt has arranged for
monetary donations to be made directly to any Northwest Bank or you can drop off many items at locations
throughout Rockford like; Maverick Media, Cousins on Perryville Rd., Gander Mountain, Victory Sports
Complex among others. Some of the items needed for the troops are listed on www.packagesfromhome.org

Pre sweetened powdered drink mixes ( Crystal Lite, Gatorade, KoolAid...)
Coffee ( ground, vacuum pak or small cans)

Beef Jerky ( small packages)
•
Foot Powder (Gold Bond etc)
•
Eye Drops (for desert environment)
•
Lip Balm ( Blistex, Carmex, Chapstick etc.)
•
Men’s Deodorant ( Stick type - NOT anti-perspirant)
•
Hand Sanitizer ( small and medium size)
•

Although the number one item the troops are in need of is AT&T International Phone cards – be sure
they’re for calls from the Middle East to the US

“The level of competition in Mixed Martial Arts in Northern Illinois has grown over the past years with the
rapid expansion of the UFC worldwide. We are seeing many new enthusiasts of the sport ranging from ages 9
and up.”
The ticket prices range from $25 advance general admission, $55 table seating in proximity of the ring and
$90 for a meet & greet with Matt Hughes including free buffet, autograph and Ringside seating. This event is
scheduled for 14 fights with local fighter favorites; Randy Worley, Eric Hendricks, Nasty Nate, Skylar
Osterberg, James Atkins & Manny Camacho, Just to name a few...
This event will undoubtedly pull a capacity crowd to the Victory Sports Complex in Loves Park. This venue is over
54,000 square-foot facility you and can find recreation and sport options for the entire family, such as: Soccer,
Kickball, Football, Softball, Boxing and now for the first time ever Mixed Martial Arts.
